Watching Smackdown 09.13.09

Yes, WWE has resorted to schoolyard name calling.

First, they started calling Chris Jericho "Christina" and the Big Show... I forgot. It has something to do with his size. Well, Shaq started this and I definitely am NOT loving it. It's so childish and immature. But just now, the new Intercontinental Champion John Morrison gave Dolph Ziggler a cute new nickname: Mr. Ziggles. I know that it's as bad as Christina, but it just sounds so adorable! Mr. Ziggles! A huge fluffy teddy bear comes to mind.

Really. This going PG business is starting to chip away the Superstars' tough image. Not ideal. I miss the Attitude Era.

Okay, I would just like to say that if Michelle McCool were really injured, she wouldn't be wearing heels that high with her crutch. In fact, she wouldn't be wearing heels at all. Come on, if they're gonna fake it, at least be realistic.

Also, his accent may somewhat be cute, but Drew McIntyre is starting to annoy me. I'm happy for him for getting all that air time though.

Ah, I remember screaming myself hoarse during Matt Hardy's entrance when Smackdown came here 3 years ago. I seriously am concerned about his injury. Did his intestines really explode?! How painful could that have been?! And how did they fix that? Did the doctors stitch every bit together? I'm starting to picture a Jeepers Creepers-like thing. I'll stop now.

Right now, Matt's in a submission match with Punk, kind of like a taste of what could happen tomorrow. I wonder how he (Punk) could wrestle with a tongue stud. I mean, doesn't it hurt when he gets slammed around? What if it suddenly came off and he swallowed it? Ouch.

Yes, Figure 4 by Matt Hardy. Good.

Ah, crap. He made Matt tap. I don't know what that submission move is called. It's an arm behind the head thing. Looks way less painful than a Figure 4.

Hahaha. Undertaker stole the championship belt! The music started and the lights shut off. When it came back up, Punk's empty handed and 'Taker's at the entrance holding it up.Panalo.

Btw, I love his new outfit. Black sleeveless leather trench coat, kinda like that guy the Hurricane's (what's his non-superhero name again?). The Undertaker's is way cooler though. It has big dull mean-looking studs aroud the top (nech and shoulders and a bit of the chest area). Really nice. Although he looks like he aged about 5 years. What happened? I mean, he isn't 50 yet (he has at least a couple more years), so why does he look so old?

I've Finished!

AH!

I never felt this good about finishing an EPH assignment. I don't know why. I just feel burned out. I know I shouldn't be. I mean, even though I take roughly an assignment a day, it should not be stressful since it's supposed to be part time and I don't do anything else that's rigorous. But somehow I just feel tired. Maybe I need a couple days of writing break.

On other matters, I am now on my 386th post. It is not that I lack things to accomplish, but I would like to set a goal during my writing break. (Okay, it could be a couple of days, but it might turn into a week. Who knows?) I would like to get to 400 posts by the end of the month. I have not posted this often in a long time so it's gonna take some planning and stuff but I'm gonna do this.

Next step: 500 posts by the end of the year!!!

I can do this!

Someone is Bound to Break at Breaking Point

WWE Breaking Point airs tomorrow, September 14, 2009 at 8AM and 9PM on JackTV here in the Philippines.

Yes, we are truly lucky to not have to pay a separate fee for this potentially awesome PPV. I *heart* JackTV. I really do.

I can't wait until tomorrow. This is the first of its kind - a brand new PPV that has all matches as a submission match. This is going to be really interesting and exciting. I would really love to see the match of Cena vs. Orton, and the Undertaker vs. CM Punk.

I have seen Cena in at least one I Quit match. He does not quit. I believe it when he says that he doesn't have a breaking point. As for Orton... Although I would like to believe that he is a chicken in a tough guy suit, he has held on to that WWE Championship for a long time, even though mostly through outside interference.  He even legally defended the title during that series of matches with Cena at SummerSlam. So I'm gonna give him props for that.

As for 'Taker and Punk's match, I just really would like to see Punk tap out to that submission move of 'Taker. I cannot remember the name just now, but it is brutal. I am still peeved about that stunt Punk pulled last week imitating Jeff, face paint and all. I know he's only made to do that by the writers, but still. Superstars have enough creative freedom to say no or at least do the deed less despicably. But I guess they really wanna develop Punk's heel character. Okay.

Since there's less than 23 hours left in my waiting, I will now give the topic a rest until after I've seen it. :)

Opera Mini

I just discovered the use of this application on my mobile phone about a week ago. I cannot believe that I could have been using my phone to go online all this time. I mean yeah, I did use the wap thing but that only allows wap sites. But Opera Mini is a web browser! I can go to any website! I'm doing it now!

Besides the small screen that makes it a bit uncomfy to navigate, it's really handy!

The 5th Year Begins

The pilot episode of Supernatural's fifth season took me on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. Of course, I was seriously excited to see it. I waited almost 4 months for it! That may not sound like such a long time, but for one who considers SPN as the highlight of her every week, it seemed like forever. Call me a loser without a life if you want to; I don't care because that is just the way it is for me.

Since it is the first episode, it aroused a lot of questions.

1. What happened to Sam? Why is he all normal? Where did all the black-eyed, blood-drinking go? Is it somewhere laying dormant inside him? Or - heaven forbid - will he end up as the devil's vessel?! As if the rift between the brothers is not deep enough.

2. As much as I rejoice over the fact that Castiel is indeed alive, I'd like to know how that happened. Chuck (the prophet) said that he exploded "like a water balloon of chunky bits" or something to that effect. Last season, he did mention that he had healing abilities. But the finale had him facing archangels alone, and we all know that only angels can kill other angels, and what he faced are archangels. So how come he's alive?

3. This may or may not be a crucial issue but I just would like to know how Bobby got possessed by a demon. After he stabbed himself to get rid of the pest hitching a ride in his body, I got the impression that he will more or less spend the whole season in that hospital bed or somewhere else being immobile. I do not support this. I want Bobby out and fighting with the boys until the end.

For now, those are the ones I can think of. The thing worth noting here is how the good side and the bad side ask for consent. See, the devil is also an angel so he needs a vessel to be able to move around on Earth. Michael the Archangel also needs one, which is Dean. The vessels need to first give the go signal before they can settle inside them.

The angels asked for consent in such a brutal manner that one may think twice about categorizing them under "good". Zachariah broke Sam's leg and took away his lungs, rendered Bobby immobile from the waist down, and gave Dean stage 4 stomach cancer, just to push him to say yes. It was almost heartless but at least they were up front and honest with their motives. They clearly stated that the fight should start right away so Michael urgently needs his vessel. They will go to any lengths to get it and win.

The devil, on the other hand, appeared as an innocent-looking lady who put on a whole "I'm misunderstood" drama and utilized the misfortunes of the man (the vessel) to convince him to give his consent. How sly and cunning and oh so detestable yet effective. He/It got a yes while the angels failed miserably.

I am in no mood to delve into a theological reflection about this one, although I would like one of my Theo profs to watch this whole series and give me commentaries and stuff. It would be so cool if he used this as a material in class.

The most memorable scenes:

Becky, the webmistress of Morethanbrothers.com --> a website dedicated to slash Sam/Dean fanfiction

Dean: A life as an angel condom? I'll pass.

"We can't go back to the way we were. I don't think I can trust you anymore." ~Dean to Sam

This was the final, most heartbreaking dialogue in this episode. I sat stunned for a bit. I mean, SPN is distinguished by the strong brotherhood of these two characters. They are the epitome of bro-mance. I just cannot imagine the show if that was taken away.

Don't give up on Sammy, Dean.

Writing-Induced Weird Nap-Dream

Awhile ago while I was struggling through the last 200 or so words of my last Essays.ph assignment, I decided to rest my eyes for 5 minutes. As a result of three more self-snoozing, I fell asleep.

I awoke in a dream. I knew I was in class but my classmates and I were sitting on a bed - my bed. It wasn't my room though. We were all chatting casually and I did not realize that our professor was in our midst until he let himself be known. Lo and behold, it was none other than Robert Pattinson in full Edward Cullen regala!

First off, I would like to emphasize the fact that I am not a fan of his. Well, okay, I did like him as Cedric. Just that. Okay, back to the dream.

So we were talking about something important and it turned out to be instructions for our
final project. It was a research paper. The topic, as Prof. Cullen articulated, was "Why Vampires are Awesome."

We were asked to research everything about vampires, from the iconic Dracula to the cult favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer. From there we were to choose figures that uphold the good vampire name and argue why they deserve to represent the whole, uh, species. We were also tasked to criticize ones that tarnish the image of these cunning creatures like the character of Leslie Nielsen in Dracula: Dead and Loving It.

It was overall an extremely biased assignment, but we had to do it to graduate or something. After one last glittering glimpse of our disco-ball-turned-undead instructor, I woke up.

This is by far the weirdest dream I had in the midst of finishing an Essays.ph assignment. There was one involving Gerard Butler, a fishing boat, and clingy mollusks, but the details are too foggy to remember now. Writing for them really does squeeze out my creative juices, even while I am unconscious.

Jeffrey, I Hate It That You Left

"Yours truly, Jeff Hardy;
Ours truly, this life."

~Jeff Hardy, Smackdown Sept. 4, 2009 episode

He did really leave. For a moment I thought he changed his mind and signed another contract. I expected him to just disappear after SummerSlam. But he showed up the week after in SmackDown and I was ecstatic. It turned out that it was just a closure thing, to say goodbye. I don't know; I'm torn between wanting to see him just a little longer and just abruptly cutting him out like yanking off a bandage quickly.

Anyway, it was a pretty nice goodbye. I did not get emotional though. I thought I would have. I mean, I cried when Rick Flair left and I wasn't even a big fan of his. Well, I guess it's because he's a legend. But Jeff is well on his way to becoming one, if only he stays a little longer next time. But no, I'm not going to join any petition asking him to come back. He needs to relax and regroup. After everything that happened to him last year, he deserves a good, long rest. Of course, he should get himself checked out. All those Swanton Bombs from extreme heights surely had some significant impact on him. How can he not have broken bones?!

So SmackDown lost another Superstar. But The Undertaker is back. Right now, he alone is the reason I watch SD. Oh, scratch that. Him and John Morrison. That guy is becoming really really good. His match with Rey Mysterio where he won the Intercontinental Championship was seriously acrobatic! I think they're building him up to be the next Jeff. Hmm. He is skilled enough but he lacks the charisma. I don't know, Jeff has this thing that just makes you pay attention to him. Is it the hair? I don't know. I miss him though.

My Ultimate Dream

is to watch The Undertaker win LIVE at WrestleMania.

Preferably from the front row.

I'm watching ECW right now and they showed an "encore presentation" of the Taker vs. Michaels match last WM25. It was one of the awesomest matches I have ever seen. Just watching a montage of it brought tears in my eyes (just a teeny weeny bit anyway). Taker is just... awesome AND legendary (move over, Barney Stinson!).

I was fortunate enough to see live performances of Taker, once when I was about 6 or 7 and the second just three years ago. Man, the uproar during his entrance was totally deafening. I screamed myself hoarse. Even though I was up in Upper B (or was it Upper A? Where the hell did I keep those tickets?) and the guy beside me smelled like garbage, it was like those slow-mo movie moments when something special was happening. It's the Undertaker right there, only a few feet (and levels) away.

Sigh. Well, this is one of those times when I'm sad because I have nobody who feels as strongly as I do about this. I can't share the glee of his return with anyone. I screamed like an adolescent at a boyband concert when he returned at SummerSlam. But I have no one who gets just how I felt. For them, it's just... I don't know, just some wrestler. But he's not. He's iconic. He's The Undertaker.

Okay, I'm ending this rant. I have five more articles to do! I don't wanna do it anymore. Ugh. But I need this.

BTW, ECW's Christian is just so... He's like a body-slamming boy next door. He has the cutest smile and he's just so charming. Sigh. Fangirl sigh.

Which One Was It Again?

So tonight I've got such a craving for just a wonderful movie to watch in bed. And guess what I wanted to watch?

A good old HORROR FILM!

I was actually planning on watching a movie called Book of Blood last week, but I'm on a tight budget so I thought I'd wait another week, maybe some extra cash would come in. But then I checked and now my favorite mall theater isn't showing it anymore.

So since I have the Internet connection all to myself tonight, I decided to search for recommended horror films. Of course, the first place I looked was HMAD. I missed going to that blog!

Anyway, it's kinda overwhelming, the number of movie reviews on there. I really wanted to read all of them and decide which ones to see but I think I've destroyed my eyes during my writing spree last night. So I looked for a short cut and landed on his "recommendations" page. It's where people can post their recommended movies that the HMAD guy can maybe review later.

So I was scrolling down and taking note of some interesting ones when I came across some titles that are very familiar to me. Then I remembered that I've seen them but can't quite recall what the story was about. I just know that I liked one and the other I didn't

I don't know. Have I seen too many horror films? I'm even trying to recall all the titles of the movies we saw in horror film class (this is so far the only class that makes me miss going to school). I wanna re-watch them, except for that last one. And I also know that I have a stock of horror films somewhere but I don't know where I stored them. Where are they?

Okay, so right now I'm torn between wanting to go to sleep and searching for those flicks...

This is NOT Bumming

It's been almost 5 months since I've officially graduated. No, I still don't have a "regular" job. However, the t-shirt business is keeping me busy, even if it seems to my parents that I'm just lazing around all day in my room.

It annoys me that they think that. I mean, yeah, I do want a regular paying job because my money at hand is dwindling down to nothing. I'm estimating that my current fund will last me at most another month and a half. It's not like I'm not trying; I've applied online for 10 jobs and I've applied for another 10 earlier this year in our school's job fair. Sometimes it frustrates me that none of them are calling. I mean, I read and re-read my resume and it's not bad at all. I don't know what's wrong with it.

On the other hand, I'm totally having fun with Shirt Street. Yeah, it's hard doing online marketing (a concept my parents cannot grasp as legit), and since we're new and the market is more or less saturated, we have to go extra lengths to promote our site and products. We always have new ideas, but sometimes you just run out of those and you just stare at a wall, wishing for a miraculous sales spike.

Last night, thinking of new ways to market even robbed me of my early-sleep plan. But it's okay. This is experience, something very valuable to all the potential employers out there. I've even started (self-) studying again. That's a big thing for me, one who thinks reading textbooks should only be done for school. Lol. Now I NEED to. I will have to raid my mom's bookshelf later.

Still, it's sad that when my parents, and sometimes even my brother, sees me in front of my laptop when they get home, they think that I just wasted the day sleeping and idling by on Facebook. Grr.
